Apple pie with aloe vera

We all know the traditional apple pie. It’s a very familiar and simple recipe that delights any diner. Perfect for an afternoon snack, a birthday, or any celebration. However, as aloe vera lovers, today we bring you an apple pie recipe that includes aloe vera among its ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 small sweet apples
  • 250 g of fine whole wheat flour
  • 3 teaspoons of baking powder for pastries
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 lemon (zest and juice)
  • 150 g of butter
  • 125 g of orange, peach, or strawberry jam (or you can use sugar or agave syrup instead)
  • 3 eggs
  • 75 g of sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons of aloe vera pulp

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.
  2. Sift the flour with the baking powder and salt.
  3. In a mixer, blend the butter, jam (or syrup/sugar), and aloe vera. Then add the eggs one at a time. It’s important to beat the mixture well.
  4. Gradually add the flour while continuing to beat.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking or pastry mold.
  6. Peel and slice the apples into wedges and arrange them over the batter in the mold.
  7. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the mixture and apples.
  8. Place in the preheated oven. The pie will be ready when a knife inserted into it comes out clean.
